The City of Akron has announced a tax amnesty program for businesses that have failed to file and pay net profit taxes and/or taxes withheld from payroll for 2010 and prior.

The program is available to businesses in the city as well as each of the Joint Economic Development Districts (JEDDs) beginning on Monday, March 5, 2012 and continuing through Friday, May 4, 2012.

Businesses that come forward voluntarily will be able to settle their accounts by paying the tax and interest due without penalties being assessed.

After the Amnesty period has concluded, businesses found to be non-compliant will be pursued to the fullest extent permitted by law.
