Background
Mel Howard and Harvey Wershbale started working together in 1973. After working at several local and national firms together, they started planning for a different future.
In 1990, after spinning off from one of the nation's largest accounting firms, Mel, Harvey and a handful of coworkers met to discuss their future and next move. Within hours, the group had developed a business plan, divided up job responsibilities and most importantly, pledged to always remain committed to their clients and to their staff.
By early the next day, Howard, Wershbale & Co. was formed with its additional founding partners - John Fleischer, Stanley Majkrzak, Stanley Olejarski and Steve Stanisa. Additional employees were contacted and a letter was sent to their clients announcing the new firm.
Twenty years later, the original group had grown from a small local CPA firm of 22 to one of Ohio's top firms with nearly 100 employees and continues to provide top-notch service and solutions to its clients.
In 2011, the firm name evolved to HW&Co.
